Miky Lee - Variety500 - Top 500 Entertainment Business Leaders

Most American film fans had their first exposure to Lee when she praised director Bong Joon-ho in a scene-stealing 2020 best picture Oscar acceptance speech for “Parasite,” but she has long been a player in the biz, both in the U.S. and her home country of South Korea. She has executive produced more than 38 films and television shows, including the Apple TV+ series “The Big Door Prize,” starring Chris O’Dowd, and the award-winning feature “Past Lives,” starring Greta Lee, both of which premiered this year. In 2021, her company, CJ Entertainment and Merchandising, partnered with RedBird Capital and others in a $275 million strategic investment in Skydance Media. And back in 1994, the Tennessee-born and (now) Los Angeles-based Lee and her brother, Jay Lee, invested $300 million in DreamWorks SKG, becoming its second-largest shareholder behind Paul Allen.
