BAFTA Los Angeles Topper Donald Haber to Retire

Donald Haber, the longtime executive director and chief operating officer of BAFTA Los Angeles, will retire in a year on May 31, 2015.
Haber is credited by the organization as having helped position it as a major part of the Hollywood awards campaign season through its Britannia Awards and the BAFTA Film Awards.
Haber joined the BAFTA L.A. board in 1994, was elected treasurer in 1996, appointed executive director in 1998 and added the COO title in 2006. He will remain to help with the selection and transition of a new chief executive.
Haber has worked with seven BAFTA LA chairs: Arnold Schwartzman, Su Lesser, Gary Dartnall, Peter Morris, Nigel Lythgoe, former Variety publisher Neil Stiles and currently Nigel Daly.
“Donald has provided exceptional leadership, overseeing significant growth of BAFTA L.A. these past 20 years,” Daly said. “Our membership, staff, financial resources, community outreach, screenings and learning programs, Britannia Awards and the popular Tea Parties — all have grown dramatically despite two recessions and major changes in our industries.”
